Is Low Protein Sabotaging Your Health & Fitness Goals?
Updated: Jan 13, 2019
Do you wonder why it is so hard to achieve your health and fitness goals? Why every year it seems like your metabolism is slowing down more and more. You notice you’re tired most of the time. And most frustrating of all, you notice it is getting harder and harder to lose weight and keep it off.
Well, guess what? Your metabolism is probably slowing down. In fact, with every decade metabolism slows down.
And while there are many ways to fight back against your slowing metabolism, there is one that many women overlook...
Women typically do not consume enough protein to support their health and fitness goals. Adequate protein is essential to maintain and build lean muscle, and to keep metabolism functioning optimally.
I frequently meet women are struggling with their weight, who are tired all the time, who have tried every diet and still have trouble losing weight and keeping it weight off. And, guess what they all have in common? They are NOT eating enough protein.
Can you relate to one of the following eating patterns?
You eat an egg for breakfast, have yogurt for lunch, and meat for dinner. That’s protein at every meal, right!
You get busy at work and don't eat all day. But when you get home you eat whatever you can find because your body needs food!
In either scenario, you are probably NOT getting enough protein.
How do you know if you are lacking protein?
Here are the common symptoms a woman faces when she doesn't get enough protein or the right type of protein:
Tired, even after a good night sleep
Bloating and water retention
Metabolism slows down
Difficulty building muscle
You find it hard to keep muscle and get toned
Losing more hair than normal
You get sick more frequently
You are tired during and/or after workouts
